News Flash: Understandably...sometimes people just don't read things, including instructions to add $5 per ticket for credit card, Paypal or Google Checkout payments. =) Don't want to stalk you, so we've added it to the ticket prices, since most of you pay using one of those methods. If you pay with a check, go ahead and deduct $5 PER ticket. This should make things simpler for all of us and the check writers will have a nice X'mas gift. =)
Same place. Different Space. Banger & The Ground Up Productions are pleased to present the 3rd Annual Private New Year's Event at Aqua Restaurant & Lounge, a party of intimately grand proportions which has sold out the last two years. For those that don't know, it started as a middle finger to the overpopulated parties where you get sad looking (and tasting) appetizers, if any, and a couple drinks from the "open bar" with alot of strangers. To ring in 2009, plans are underway to keep the same good stuff, clean up on suggestions from guests last year, and add even more to your experience.
For starters, in this economy and compared to last year, we were able to work out lower Early Bird and Regular ticket prices for those who don't procrastinate. Aqua will also morph that night with added decor and ambience to create a different space from what you've seen before at this party. Capacity will remain comfortable, but allow some more of your friends and family to join us. We're pulling together more surprises for you, so stay tuned, but check out what IS included in the meantime:

Charitable Giving
Continuing the tradition of giving while having a good time, a percentage of proceeds from each ticket will be donated to the Asian American Dispute Resolution Center (APADRC) this year as the beneficiary organization.

The Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center (APADRC) is a non-profit, community-based mediation center that provides conflict resolution services to community members of Los Angeles County. In operation since 1989, APADRC has been working to build bridges across the many divides in our communities by addressing the complex, cross-cultural, multi-issue situations that individuals face. Through conflict resolution services such as mediation, phone conciliation and large-group facilitation, the center provides culturally and linguistically sensitive services that are ideal for addressing family, consumer-merchant, neighbor, landlord-tenant, and business disputes. We are dedicated to serving the traditionally underserved and underrepresented communities that face language, cultural and income barriers. We seek to give voice and include the oftern marginalized monolingual communities by providing services in a variety of Asian languages and Spanish. In addition to our community mediation services, APADRC also works with local middle and high schools to bring peer mediation and conflict resolution education to our youth. We also offer community members opportunities to become trained mediators and give back to their communities.
In the last year, APADRC worked with over 800 community members, doing problem assessments, providing referrings, and opening cases. Of the roughly 200 mediation cases opened in the last year, over half were successfully resolved. Over 60% of our clients were of Asian heritage and half of all clients made less than $20,000. In addition to the direct services we provide, APADRC also co-hosted two hate crimes awareness events, both held in Monterey Park. We have participated in numerous community fairs and events, such as co-presenting a film during the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival and tabling during the National Night Out Against Crime in the San Gabriel Valley. APADRC has also presented conflict resolution workshops at various conferences, such as the LEAP Leadership Institute and the National Association of Asian American Professionals National Convention.
Please visit www.apadrc.org to learn more about APADRC and who your contribution will go to.
Please continue supporting our designated charity last year - Pacific Clinic's Asian Pacific Family Center (APFC) - by visiting www.pacificclinics.org/asian.html.
